SS160 Sheet Metal Shrinker and Stretcher

Designed for sheet metal forming operations, the SS160 Shrinker and Stretcher features two independent heads: one dedicated to stretching and the other to shrinking the material.

This configuration eliminates the need to change the jaw assemblies during operation, providing greater speed and productivity, especially in jobs that require frequent switching between stretching and shrinking.

The machine is mounted on a pedestal and its heads are operated by foot pedals, keeping the operator’s hands free to position, guide, and control the workpiece with greater precision throughout the forming process.

Greater Forming Capacity

With a throat depth of 160 mm, the SS160 allows forming operations to be performed farther into the sheet, expanding the possibilities for producing curves, edges, flanges, and metal panels with complex geometries.

The machine is designed to work with:

  • Aluminum up to 1.5 mm thick;

  • Cold-rolled low-carbon steel up to 1.2 mm thick;

  • Stainless steel up to 0.9 mm thick.

Micro-Serrated Jaws

The jaw assemblies are manufactured from special-grade steel and feature micro-serrations designed to provide secure grip during the forming process while leaving only light marks on the sheet metal surface.

This feature contributes to a higher-quality finish and reduces the need for rework in subsequent production stages.

Robust Construction

The heads housing the main operating mechanisms are manufactured from steel plates assembled in a double-plate sandwich-type structural configuration.

This construction provides high rigidity, mechanical strength, and overall stability, reducing structural deflection during shrinking and stretching operations.

Retractable Pedals

The foot pedals feature a retractable system, allowing them to be folded away when the machine is not in use. This reduces the space occupied by the equipment and helps prevent accidents caused by tripping or accidental impacts.

As an option, the SS160 can be supplied with a mobile base equipped with casters. The machine can be moved by controlled tilting, making it easier to reposition within the workshop without requiring permanent floor mounting.
